Can a Name Put You in Harm's Way? - 03/03/2010
Recently, the body of 17 year old San Diego high school honor student Chelsea King, was found in a shallow grave a half mile from the spot where she parked her car before going jogging. It appears that Chelsea was a victim of a crime of opportunity... singled out by her murderer simply because she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. As a name specialist, I can't help but look beyond the seeming coincidence of her death. Like so many others who have met with a similar demise, Chelsea unknowingly carried, what I have identified as a hidden "danger factor" in her name.

The list is a long one with only a few famous names listed here: Natalee Holloway, John Lennon, Sharon Tate, Jon-Benet Ramsey, Alissa Blanton, Nicole Brown, Ronald Goldman, Tupac Shakur, Jeanine Nicarico, Rebecca Schaeffer. Each of these individuals had their lives tragically ended too soon, victimized by a criminal act. As a professional naming expert I am continually looking at predictive patterns present in the subliminal make-up of a name, and I cannot ignore a common name pattern shared by so many individuals who become crime victims. Could it be this pattern creates a “break” in the protective energy field established by a balanced, harmonious name? Could it be that such a break puts a person at greater risk for unfortunate life experiences?

Energetically, when the “danger factor” is present in a name, it’s a call to fix a problem. Just as a smoke detector begins to beep when its battery gets low… and just as virus software notifies a computer user that an operating system has been compromised, names can act as an indicator to warn of a vulnerable mental/emotional environment. In times past, when the silent influence of names was understand, language patterns that were discordant were avoided. However, today there is little recognition that such patterns even exist.

If the “danger factor” is present in your name, a simple adjustment in spelling can recalibrate the pattern. For instance, if the spelling of Natalee was shifted to Natalie, Ms. Holloway would have had an extremely strong name overall. In many instances, regular use of a middle initial or middle name will keep a name in better balance. Sharon Tate would have benefited from using her middle initial M. on a daily basis to counteract the “break” in her full name.

Certainly when a prospective parent is choosing a first and middle name for a baby, the “danger factor” should be taken into account. And for everyone who already has a name, a name attunement can determine if an adjustment is needed. A particular name does not create one’s destiny, but a name does establish the mental/emotional mood in one’s life. It only makes sense to opt for the strongest name pattern possible.
Expressing Yourself through One Name - 11/29/2008
Madonna and a few other celebs like Sting and Cher, have opted to be known by just one name. Did the first-name-only identity option help Madonna reach her many successes? And, does the name Madonna contribute to the relationship challenges this celebrity has experienced through much of her life? When an individual chooses to be known by just one name, there is a tremendous focus of that name's energy throughout all aspects of life. That might be positive or not so positive depending on the name's inherent strength. The moniker Madonna has about as strong of a name subliminal or vibration as it is possible to get. This woman was prompted by her name at birth to reach for the stars and see no challenge as being too great. When the surname Ciccone gets added into the mix, even more strength, independence, originality and determination come on board. So Madonna Ciccone has been given a tremendous boost by all of her name components, and in using just her first name in public she has focused her potential to an even greater degree. That said, all of her name influences do little to encourage relationship ease. She will always want to be in control and in the driver's seat. Her best chance for a LTR comes with a man of equal strength. Guy Ritchie does have a very strong first name and full name so he was able to stay in the ring for a bit longer than his predecessors. But with time, unless they manage to establish an equitable level of equal balance, two very powerful people are likely to prefer a solo act over a duet!
Obama vs. McCain - 03/13/2008
Interestingly enough, at the core, these two men are quite similar. Both have an adept skill at being a diplomat... both have sensitive internal natures with a naturally empathetic leaning. While Obama wants to make his mark while gaining great praise and adulation, McCain is always striving for the perfectionist's path. Obama must take care not to people please in order to earn applause... and McCain may strive for the ideal but have trouble living it himself.

By way of their first names, the call to diplomacy continues. We can expect either one, if elected, to frequently get caught up in attempting to keep all interest groups happy at the same time. That said, through his full name, Obama has a very strong transformational quality present. He will do his best to make changes that will truly make a difference. McCain, through his full name will be called upon to give and give and give... perhaps to the point of burn-out.

There are some interesting factors present in the cycle forecasts for these men. McCain, if he were to become President, would take office in a 4 year. Many tests accompany a person's 4 year. Both Abraham Lincoln and James Garfield took office in a 4. (And former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer took office in a 4 year!) Obama, on the other hand would take office in a 5 year, a time that provides abundant energy for change. Boosted by his own progressive influences and his full name, this is an individual who could make far reaching changes for the country and world.

While you may not be running for President any time soon, it is important to have a strong full name signature to support your professional endeavors and financial interests. Determining if your middle name or initial is an asset or a hindrance is an important first step. Order a Name Attunement to discover your most beneficial full name option.

Names in Rehab - 02/14/2008
Kirsten Dunst recently made the news when she entered rehab to deal with her addiction problems. She is just one more celebrity to go public regarding issues with overdulgence, drug abuse, alcoholism and destructive behavior. The world mourned the loss of Heath Ledger, only to discover that his death was related to overuse of a variety of prescription medications. Britney Spears is struggling to keep her life in a healthy place... as are folks like Sean Young, Amy Winehouse, Mel Gibson, Lindsay Lohan, Joe Nichols and Jessica Sierra. How do these peoples' names play into the mix? Since every name carries an innate purpose, it is not surprising to discover that all of the individuals mentioned here have monikers that encourage overindulgence and a difficulty making responsible choices. All have names that up the volume on emotion and adrenaline while providing a call to fast-paced, spontaneous adventure. So might "name rehab" help each of these stars regain their life balance? Often even a minor adjustment in spelling can offer a stronger name influence. Some suggestions for new name choices.... Kirsten Caroline Dunst, Aimee Winehouse, Britt Speer, M. Gerard Gibson, Jessi Sierra are "quick fix" options using parts of what's already in place. And all the better would be a total name change. Yes, when life gets on shaky ground, opting for a new name can make a world of difference!
Oprah's Year in 2007 - 11/04/2007
As recently reported by People Magazine, Oprah Winfrey has experienced some seeming setbacks during 2007. She started the year off with a bang, opening her $40 million Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa. But then came the accidental death of her beloved Golden Retriever, Gracie in May. In October, Oprah let the world know about her serious thyroid issues that have impacted her health and her weight. And finally in late October, came the news of abuse allegations at her school. When I first read the account of Oprah's many trials and tribulations, I immediately assumed that she must be right in the middle of a test year. And sure enough, 2007 is a 4 Cycle Year for Ms. Winfrey. Here at Name Structures, I offer daily Life Cycle forecasts that will key you in on the mood of any particular day according to personal cycle configurations. It is important to not only look at your daily forecast but also the forecast for the month and the year as well. In a 4 Cycle Year, it is inadvisable to begin any new or large undertakings. Yes, Oprah would have done well to wait with the launch of her school until 2008. During a 4 year, life will test an individual to the core in all areas of life. The key is to stay with routine details, while tending to all that has been ignored over the previous 3 years. Do that, and you will be primed and strengthened for progressive growth in the following 5 Cycle Year. Ignore the 4 Cycle, and forge ahead and the likelihood is, the going will get much rougher before it gets easier. Ms. Winfrey will no doubt overcome these most recent challenges. But perhaps, her progress could have gotten an extra boost had she realized the particulars of her own personal Cycle Forecast!
